Promotional Copywriting

Job Description


Primary responsibilities include writing email, landing page, video scripts and word builds, website, digital ad, and other promotional copy. Secondary responsibilities include writing solution briefs, blog posts, editing content produced by network of freelancers and agency copywriters, and managing content projects that leverage freelance and agency copywriters.


  • Write promotional content supporting product launches and demand-gen programs—for prospects, customers, and partners—that include email, landing page, website, and digital ad copy
  • Write videos scripts for talking-head videos, whiteboard videos, and word-build videos
  • Write copy for solution briefs, solution guides, checklists, flyers, brochures, and blog posts
  • Ensure all content aligns with individual personas, problem statements, and journey stages
  • Oversee writing projects for more in-depth research content such as white papers, eBooks, and reports
  • Edit customer case studies and ensure brand, product, solution, and partner marketing messaging is reflected in the narrative
  • Collaborate with product and solutions marketing, PR/communications, demand-gen/campaign, field/vertical, and channel marketing teams to construct promotional copy that reflects brand messaging and differentiates Fortinet products and solutions from competitive options
  • Work with the web team to ensure optimization of SEO for web-site copy and to ensure copy complies with product, vertical, and channel marketing requirements
  • Manage all assigned projects using WorkFront project management system

Required Skills

  • 5+ years in technology marketing
  • 3+ years in copywriting roles
  • Experience writing promotional copy; strong preference for background writing for prospect, customers, and channel partners
  • Experience using project management system to track and manage copywriting tasks
  • Understanding of buyer, customer, and partner personas and demand-gen journey stages
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, focused professional that thrives in high-volume, high-velocity project environments
  • Team player who welcomes opportunities to collaborate with peers across the marketing organization
  • Keen interest in cybersecurity technology and how it addresses business requirements
  • Ability to build compelling messages and storylines that align with personas, customer pain points, journey stages, and brand voice and style
  • Creative storyteller with the ability to pinpoint core kernels and to bring those to light via various content forms—audio, video, and written
  • Demonstrable results working across marketing organizations to ensure business requirements are embedded in the broader copywriting activities
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; masters’ degree a plus
